STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A Staten Island wedding could take place under flowering almond trees in a Chinese garden, or next to a fountain in a Tuscan Renaissance garden: Both settings are part of the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden in Livingston.
Guests at a cocktail party thrown last night by Celebrate at Snug Harbor, the site's in-house caterer, toured the two gardens as well as the Great Hall, a turn-of-the-century ballroom with 40-foot ceilings and Palladian windows.
Celebrate at Snug Harbor, a subsidiary of Landmark Hospitality (http://www.landmarkhospitality.com/), has performed extensive renovations within the complex in the past 10 months.
Landmark, which is owned by longtime Island businesspeople Frank and Jeanne Cretella, also operates Liberty House, The Valiant Yacht and the Stone House, all in New Jersey.
Ellyn Amesse, Jeanne Cretella and ToniAnn Fischetti enjoy themselves at "Celebrate at Snug Harbor" in the Great Hall on the grounds of the cultural center. The event was designed to showcase the various venues available at the Harbor for different affairs.
